NOTD: A Cute Twist on Half Moon Nails

Half moon lacey nails using Zoya sailor
Zoya "Sailor" (blue)
Wet n Wild "White Creme" (white)

Happy Sunday girls! Today I have a quick nail of the day to show you. I was inspired by the Julie (thenailomon on instagram), to do this manicure! She did a similar design on her nails a couple of months ago, just without the extra dots.
Obviously, this was my first time trying this design, as you can probably tell by the lopsided dots and such. I do like it though! It looks really cute and dainty from farther away. They kind of look like doilies ☺
All you do for this look is start off by doing a normal half moon design. Then, you add dots all around the half moon with the same color. Lastly, you take your original base color (mine was white) and make smaller dots inside the previous dots (I had quite a difficult time lining up the dots and keeping the size consistent thanks to my incredibly shaky hands), and that's it! I think this is a really cute version of a half moon manicure.

I hope y'all had a great weekend!

Essie "For the Twill of it" Review

Good afternoon! Today I have a review for you I have been hearing so many amazing things about Essie's "For the Twill of it", so -of course- I had to try it out.

*Click on photos for better quality*

Here are some pictures (review will follow):

You can see that in direct sunlight the polish looks grey with a bit of a sage-y green undertone.

Review time! As excited as I was to try this polish after hearing all of the wonderful reviews, I wasn't blown away by the formula. Yes, it has great opacity- but for me it has a few downfalls as well: 1) The formula in my bottle was a little thick, 2) There were minor brush-stroke issues (not horrible) and 3) The polish seemed to drag very easily. By "drag" I mean when I painted it onto the nail the brush would drag the polish off if I swept it over one too many times. I painted my nails just like I do with any other polish and I almost never have this problem. On the one hand, it could be a good thing because it shows that the polish dries very quickly. On the other hand, it means you have to paint fast in order to avoid the dragging.
I do, however, LOVE the color. Therefore, I would definitely repurchase this nail polish. I think that the color is so freakin' amazing that I don't even mind the formula (which isn't even THAT bad).

And that concludes my review of Essie's "For the Twill of it", I definitely recommend trying it out!

Five untried nail polishes that I want to use by the end of Fall

Welcome back loves! :) Today I want to share with you five nail polishes that I want to try before the end of the season. I got this idea while watching Kat's video where she showed 15 untrieds. I was able to narrow mine down to 5 (+1 that may or may not count as an untried), so here they are!

Sunlight

Up first we have Orly's "Purple Poodle" from their 2013 Surreal collection. I bought this back in September when Ulta was having a buy two get one free deal. I was planning on wearing this immediately after buying it but for some reason I still haven't tried it. Something is obviously wrong with me, haha.
The polish is a magenta jelly with blue micro-glitter and some tiny flakies as well. Many people say that this collection wasn't really "fall themed" but I could care less! That polish is just freakin' gorgeous. Keep doing what you do, Orly!

Sunlight

This next polish is Rimmel London's "Hard Metal". This is actually my mom's polish (shhhh), but she uses mine all the time too! This is a medium blue metallic with silver shimmer.
I have another polish from this "Lasting Finish Pro" line and I really enjoy the formula and the brush so I'm excited to try this one

Sunlight

Color Club's "Positively Posh" is a nail polish that I received from my friend Amie in a surprise nail mail box! This is just a basic brown creme polish and it will be great for some fall nail art.

Sunlight- Sorry for the dust lol

Next up is Orly's "Smolder" from their Fired Up collection. This is one of the other polishes that I picked up from the buy two get one free deal at Ulta that I mentioned earlier. This is a gorgeous, I want to say almost blackened, wine/burgundy color that flashes to a coppery color in some lights. I absolutely adore these types of colors... perfect for fall!

Sunlight

Essie's "For the Twill of it" is a polish that I HAD to pick up simply because of all the rave it was getting. I do love duo-chrome polishes but I wasn't sure I wanted to pay $8 for this one because my experience with Essie has always been hit/miss (e.g. Essie's fiji- a beautiful baby pink but my bottle has an awful, unworkable formula). But I'm trusting the reviews of all my fellow nail addicts on this one and going for it!
The polish has a grey base with a purple/green duo-chrome. I tried my best to capture the colors in the picture but I really wasn't able to do it justice! I'm planning on swatching this tomorrow and I should have a review up shortly after.

Sunlight- sorry for the dust lol

And finally, we have Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's "Cinna-snap".
Now I don't know if this classifies as an untried because I have used it on my toes, but for me it counts! If I haven't used it on my fingernails then it is still an untried in my eyes ;)
Cinna-snap is a deep, burgundy-red creme. In the sunlight picture it looks quite bright, but I assure you it's not. There are many colors like this but this is a super cheap option (I believe these polishes are right around $4.00). Plus, Sally Hansen's formula is usually really great.

So those are all of the polishes that I am hoping to try this fall season. I hope you enjoyed! Also, I apologize for the dust on the bottles! Next time I'll be sure to check for dust
