Essie's "Hors D'oeuvres" over OPI's "Happy Anniversary!"


 

    Hey guys, sorry for the late post. I thought this would be up much sooner but I got sidetracked. Anywho, happy New Year everyone! Today I have my New Years mani to share with you.
     I used 1 coat of Essie's "Hor D'oeuvres" from their new Encrusted Treasures collection over two coats of OPI's "Happy Anniversary!" for this look. I'm really digging' it! So sparkly, girly, and appropriately festive!
     The OPI polish was very sheer, so with two coats I still had VNL. But with the Essie polish on top it really pulled the  look together, although sometimes I can still see through to my nail  line. The Essie polish also gave a hint of gold to the otherwise whitish-silver nail polish beneath it. Now in some lights my nails look silver and in others it looks gold! Hors D'oeuvres gives a really cool color changing effect.
     As for the formula, I mentioned that the OPI was very sheer but it was not watery or runny, so that's a plus! ☺ And the Essie polish was not too thick as some people have said. I found it fairly easy to work with, and for this outcome/effect on my nails, I would use it even if the formula were awful!

     Overall I loved my manicure and I would recommend both of the polishes mentioned to anyone who loves sparkly and shiny nails!

 

NOTD... My Christmas Day Manicure!

     Good afternoon ☺ Christmas is almost here and I hope you all will be able to see your families, have fun, eat a lot, and most importantly... get some nail polish!
     I decided that my Christmas Manicure would be something simple (no surprise there) and cute. I chose this little Santa accent nail after watching cutepolish's video which showed the ultimate guide to Christmas nail art. All of the designs were so cute but I decided on this one to match the color of polish I wanted to wear: China Glaze's "Ruby Pumps". Ahhhh I finally understand why everyone swoons over this polish. Funny story... I got this back in September when I was picking out polish for my nail mail buddy, intending it to be for her. I kept it. Okay so maybe it wasn't such a funny story... more selfish, I guess, but I couldn't resist. Who wouldn't keep this polish? Am I horrible? Lol. Oh well... sorry Amiee!
     Ruby Pumps is the perfect Christmas red. It's a red jelly base with red micro-glitter that makes it sparkle off of your fingers. I cannot believe I waited so long to try this. You need this polish in your life.

NOTD: Winter Snowman Nail Art

     Hello everyone ☺ I hope you are having a fun week-before-Christmas. Today I have for you a fun winter manicure! 

    On Monday, my good friend George brought me two snowman glitter nail polishes from Avon. I was so excited that I completely changed my mani plan (yes, I plan my manicures) in order to use this silver glitter. I thought for a while about what I could do that I'm actually capable of (because I kind of suck at most nail art), and I looked at the snowman bottle and thought "OOH! I'll just do a snowman face, that looks easy enough!" So that's what I did, although I must say, even the simplest of nail art can be a challenge for me. I ended up screwing up the nose and had to fix it with some more white polish. Thankfully, my amazing HK Girl topcoat smoothed it out and now even my critical eyes can't see the mistake! 

     As for the polishes, the blue is Sally Hansen CSM's "Barracuda"... which I'm sad to say that it is a pain in my butt. I bought it a couple months ago and used it shortly after, but I ended up removing it because it was so thick and hard to work with. This time was more manageable but still annoying. I used three coats to get full opacity without any bald spots. I do love the color, but if I knew how much of a pain the application was I would have never bought it.

     The glitter is of course, the Avon polish that my friend George gave me called "Snowflake" and I wanted it to look somewhat like snow instead of making snow with white dots... it delivered!

     The snowman was created with a basic white and black polish and Revlon's "Marmalade" for the orange nose ☺

     So that's it! I really love these simple winter nails and I have already received quite a few compliments in just a couple days. Do y'all like winter/Christmas nail art? What have you done so far? I would love to see and get inspiration from you guys!  ♡

NOTD: Holly Nails

    Hey y'all! Since the month of December finally started, I can do holiday themed nails! Woohoo ☺
    As you can probably tell, I've done a holly/mistletoe design (you can also probably tell it was my first attempt). It's actually very rare that I do a design on all of my nails, I'm mainly an accent nail kind of girl because let's face it, I don't have the patience... unless, of course, the nail art is as simple as this!
    My base color is Zoya's "Seraphina" from their latest Holiday 2013 collection. I freaking love this polish, and although I'm really digging this nail art, I almost wish I would have let Seraphina keep the spotlight to herself for a little while. And I apologize for the lighting,I really wish the sun would come out and allow the true beauty of this color to shine. Oh well... that's Florida for ya'!
    Anywho, all I used for this design were two different sized dotting tools. I used a larger one to make the holly berries, and a smaller one to create the leaves. Basically all I did for the leaves was place a dot and drag it out, slightly releasing pressure as I did so in order to create the thinner points of the leaves. And that's it! Super simple,right?

NOTD: A Cute Twist on Half Moon Nails

     Happy Sunday girls! Today I have a quick nail of the day to show you. I was inspired by the Julie (thenailomon on instagram), to do this manicure! She did a similar design on her nails a couple of months ago, just without the extra dots. 

    Obviously, this was my first time trying this design, as you can probably tell by the lopsided dots and such. I do like it though! It looks really cute and dainty from farther away. They kind of look like doilies ☺ 

    All you do for this look is start off by doing a normal half moon design. Then, you add dots all around the half moon with the same color. Lastly, you take your original base color (mine was white) and make smaller dots inside the previous dots (I had quite a difficult time lining up the dots and keeping the size consistent thanks to my incredibly shaky hands), and that's it! I think this is a really cute version of a half moon manicure.
